A crash involving an overturned vehicle caused big delays on the Long Island Expressway in Plainview on Thursday morning, police said.

Nassau County police said the accident occurred at 9:39 a.m. on the westbound roadway east of Exit 44, the exit for the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. The accident was cleared about an hour later.

Police said the accident involved "minor injuries" to the driver, but could not immediately provide specifics.

The overturned vehicle ended up against the center barrier and forced the closure of both the westbound and eastbound HOV lanes, as well as the left lane westbound. Traffic cameras showed police, fire and medical crews at the scene. The crash backed up westbound traffic for miles and impacted eastbound traffic, too.
