Traffic came to a stop on the Northern State Parkway after a multivehicle crash on Friday night. Credit: Jim Staubitser

Multivehicle crash on the Northern State Parkway on Friday night sent three people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to State Police.

The first crash took place near Exit 30 by Old Westbury at 10:51 p.m. when a car rear-ended another. That impact was quickly followed by another when a car heading east smashed into a car involved in the earlier collision, which then struck a person standing outside a vehicle.

 State Police said three people were hospitalized and one person was evaluated at the scene but refused medical attention. 

State Police did not immediately provide any other information, saying they are still investigating.
