The body of a man "possibly in his 20s" was found in front of a home on James Street in Inwood about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, according to Nassau police, who said the Homicide Squad is investigating the death. Above, a view of the house on Wednesday morning. Credit: Howard Schnapp

Relatives of a Brooklyn man fatally shot in Inwood remembered him as a good-humored construction worker and devoted father of three, whose youngest child turns 1 Friday.

Deshawn Henry, 23, who family members said lived in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, was identified Thursday by Nassau police as the victim of the fatal shooting Tuesday night.

His body was discovered by police in thick shrubbery after a woman called 911 about 6:30 p.m. to report a man bleeding in some bushes outside her James Street home.

Police said Thursday there were no new leads in the shooting, which they suspect was a targeted attack.

Homicide investigators are still trying to identify possible suspects as well as a motive, police said.

Detectives have said they believe Henry was targeted because the area where he was gunned down is secluded and hard to see from the street due to the dense shrubbery.

Henry was wearing blue sweatpants and a blue T-shirt with writing on it, said Det. Capt. John Azzata, commanding officer of the Homicide Squad, at a Wednesday news conference at police headquarters in Mineola.

Azzata said Henry was shot near where he was found.

"When officers arrived at that scene," Assata said, "they found the man in the bushes bleeding who was apparently dead."

Relatives said Henry's youngest child -- a boy -- has his first birthday Friday.

He also had a 4-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter.

"He loved his family," said his sister, Deora Henry, 21, of Brooklyn.

Shana Henry, 24, of Newark and a cousin of Deshawn Henry, said he was known for his sense of humor.

On the night Henry died, he was likely in Inwood to visit a former girlfriend who lives there, his cousin said.

"He's like the funniest person I know," Shana Henry said.
