Police said a man walked into a jewelry store in Syosset on Thursday, asked to see a pair of earrings valued at $1,400, and snatched them from a worker.

Now, Nassau County police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect and are asking for help catching him.

The theft occurred at the Garco Jewelry store on Jericho Turnpike at about 12:30 p.m., police said.

The stud earrings were attached to a display stand and the suspect, described as about 6 feet tall and in his 50s, wearing a dark-colored jacket and a baseball cap, grabbed that stand from the 70-year-old female employee, then ran out of the store.

The employee was not injured.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls will remain confidential.
