The theft occurred at the Garco Jewelry store on Jericho Turnpike at about 12:30 p.m., police said.
The stud earrings were attached to a display stand and the suspect, described as about 6 feet tall and in his 50s, wearing a dark-colored jacket and a baseball cap, grabbed that stand from the 70-year-old female employee, then ran out of the store.
The employee was not injured.
