Flavor Flav's speeding case postponed until July
The rapper known as Flavor Flav, accused of speeding and possession of marijuana, made a brief appearance in a Mineola courtroom Friday and had his case adjourned until July.
The rapper, whose given name is William Drayton, was arrested Jan. 9 and charged with speeding at 79 mph on a section of the Meadowbrook State Parkway where the speed limit is 55 mph.
Drayton, 54, is a native of Roosevelt and now lives in Las Vegas.
He wore his trademark clock pendant around his neck and sat in the rear bench of the audience section of the courtroom as his attorney, Indji Bessim, of the Bronx, spoke with court personnel.
Drayton said little to reporters as he left the courthouse, but conceded in response to a question that it was expensive to fly in from Las Vegas for his court appearances.
"I'm starvin' like Marvin. Give me a turkey, I'm carvin'," he said as reporters pressed him for comment.
