An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with an April shots-fired incident in Freeport.

Nassau County police said Nathanial Paulino, of 155 South Ocean Ave., Freeport, surrendered to Special Investigations Squad detectives at the First Precinct at 9:05 p.m. Thursday. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Paulino was arraigned Friday and held on a $10,000 cash or bail bond.

Police said the shots were fired at about 6:30 p.m. April 11 in Freeport.

Detectives said Paulino was involved in a verbal argument with a large group of unknown males on North Main Street and that, when the argument escalated, Paulino took out a handgun -- and fired multiple gunshots at the group.

Paulino and the others fled the scene, police said. But police said responding officers discovered that two gunshots struck a nearby delicatessen.

No injuries were reported.
