LIE west reopens at Exit 44 after tractor trailer overturned
All westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway reopened at around 10:30 a.m. after they were closed before dawn because a tractor trailer had overturned, Nassau police said.
The crash occurred at around 4:07 a.m.
The large size of the vehicle is one reason the shutdown lasted so long, a police spokesman said.
