A school bus carrying one child was hit by a sport utility vehicle in Bethpage on Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.

The accident at Maple Avenue and North Sixth Street happened at 7:03 a.m. and caused the SUV to overturn, police said.

The student and driver on the bus were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released, said a spokeswoman from the bus company, First Student Bus Co. in Hicksville.

Police had no other information, including the condition of the SUV driver.
