76°Good Morning

Three banks in Nassau were robbed Thursday in just over an hour, police said, and now investigators are trying to determine if two of the bank robberies are connected.

According to Nassau police, two of the robberies occurred at at Chase bank in Plainview and a Roslyn Savings Bank in Merrick. A third bank was robbed in Flower Hill.

There were no injuries in any of the robberies, police said, and there was no indication that any of the suspects was armed.

Police said in both the Chase and Roslyn Savings robberies, a male wearing dark clothing handed a teller a note demanding cash and fled on foot with an unknown amount.

In the Chase robbery, which occurred at 3:02 p.m. at 1064 Old Country Rd., witnesses described the suspect as 6-foot-2. In the Roslyn Savings robbery, about an hour and 20 minutes later at 2111 Merrick Ave., the suspect was described as 5-foot-6.

Despite the difference in physical descriptions of the suspects, Nassau police would not rule out a connection.

In between the Plainview and Merrick robberies, police said, a Capital One Bank was robbed in Flower Hill at 3:35 p.m. They said a male, described as between 25 to 30 years old and 6 feet tall, wearing a black winter cap, dark jacket and pants, walked into the bank at 1085 Northern Blvd. and gave the teller a note demanding cash. The suspect fled on foot westbound on Northern Boulevard with an unknown amount of money, police said. Nassau police said the Flower Hill bank robbery was likely not connected to the Plainview and Merrick robberies.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the bank at 2111 Merrick Ave. in Merrick.
