New judges chosen to head Nassau district, county courts

The state's chief administrative judge has chosen new jurists to head Nassau's district and county courts.

Judge Gail Prudenti appointed Judge Christopher Quinn to be supervising judge of Nassau County Court, replacing Judge John Kase, who recently retired.

Prudenti appointed Judge Norman St. George to head Nassau District Court, a job that had been held by Quinn, a court spokesman said.

"Judge Quinn and Judge St. George are extraordinary judges who share a profound respect for our system of justice and the laws that govern our society," said Thomas A. Adams, administrative judge of Nassau County.

As District Court supervising judge since 2006, Quinn oversaw the opening of courtrooms specializing in mental health, adolescent diversion, veterans and human trafficking cases. Before that, he served as a judge in county and district courts.

St. George has been a County Court judge since 2008, presiding over domestic violence and sex offense calendars, among other responsibilities. Before that, he sat on the District Court bench, overseeing driving while intoxicated cases.
