Cops: Gunman robs Wantagh gas station
Nassau police are searching for a man who robbed a BP gas station in Wantagh on Friday while armed with a handgun.
Nassau detectives said the suspect entered the gas station at 1442 Wantagh Ave. at 6:18 p.m., brandished a weapon and demanded cash from the clerk.
The victim complied, and the suspect fled northbound with an undisclosed amount of cash into a wooded area behind the gas station, police said. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as between 19 to 25 years old and roughly 5-foot-8, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans, silver sun glasses, a dark baseball cap, black gloves and a blue bandanna covering his face.
