Police seek suspects in store register robberies in New Hyde Park
Two robberies involving suspects who stole money from a store register took place recently in New Hyde Park, police said.
Nassau police said a man between 30 and 35 years old entered the Grab & Go on Union Turnpike at 11:01 p.m. on Sunday. He demanded cash from the register and verbally threatened the clerk with a weapon, but didn't display one. After the clerk gave the man an unknown amount of cash, he fled south on Lakeville Road. Two employees were in the store at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.
The following day, a man entered The Barn on Hillside Avenue, approached a 25-year-old female employee and ordered her away from the counter and into the bathroom at 1:48 p.m.
The employee complied and the man took an unknown amount of money from the register. He fled on foot westbound behind adjacent stores. No injuries were reported.
The suspect in the Barn robbery was being described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with blue eyes and a thin build, and wearing a mask with a skull imprint, a tan T-shirt, dark gloves, shorts and sneakers.
Police could not say whether the robberies were related.
