Nassau County police are investigating an armed robbery at a Target store in Westbury on Sunday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred at 7:25 a.m., before the store’s 8 a.m. scheduled opening, police said in a news release.
A man armed with a handgun approached a 22-year-old female employee from behind, police said. He ordered the employee and a second female employee, 70, to get down on the floor in an office.
He then took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store through an emergency exit on the east side of the store, police said. The man got into a dark-colored vehicle outside the store, which is at 999 Corporate Drive.
The suspect is described as a male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 to 180 pounds, police said. He was wearing a black mask, black gloves, tan pants, a black jacket and black sneakers with white soles.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
