Tree removal worker fatally struck by tree

A tree removal company worker died Friday after a tree fell on him at a Muttontown home, Nassau police said.
The man, 53, was working at an Ironwood Road residence when the accident happened about noon, police said. He was knocked unconscious and suffered "obvious injuries" to his entire left leg as well as bruising on his chest and back, police said.
The worker, whose name and company were not released, was taken to Syosset Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:40 p.m., police said.
While the man was being removed from under the tree, a Muttontown officer also got hurt when a tree limb fell on his head, Nassau police said. His abrasions were treated at Syosset Hospital, and he was expected to be released, police said.
