BACKGROUND

  • Weik, 52, of Sayville, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election and is seeking reelection to a third term.
  • She was Islip Town’s receiver of taxes for nearly 10 years. She previously served as deputy town receiver of taxes and as a Suffolk County legislative aide. Weik is also a former small-business owner in the landscaping industry.
  • Weik has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Dowling College.

ISSUES

  • Weik said safety is a priority and that since taking office she has been “fighting as hard as I can to support law enforcement and support bringing safety back to our communities.”
  • She said that if reelected she would work to make New York more affordable and a business-friendly environment. “We’ve had lots of proposals to reduce regulations, lower taxes and make it more affordable for New Yorkers,” she said.
  • Weik said she also wants to fight back against policies she said are “destroying our state,” citing “illegal migrants, sanctuary status.”
