Anthony P. D'Esposito R
U.S. REPRESENTATIVE, 4TH DISTRICT
BACKGROUND
- D’Esposito, 42, of Island Park, is running for a second term.
- He is a retired NYPD detective and the former chief of the Island Park Fire Department. He was a councilman in the Town of Hempstead from 2016 to 2023 and worked as an administrative assistant for the Nassau County Board of Elections.
- He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Hofstra University in Hempstead.
ISSUES
- D’Esposito said he deserves a second term after delivering more than $30 million in federal funds to projects in the district, helping law enforcement, fire districts and the library systems.
- He said he supported the H.R. 2 border security legislation that passed without any Democratic support in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. The bill makes it harder for undocumented immigrants to claim asylum and required employers to verify the immigration status of their employees. He is opposed to New York City’s sanctuary city status.
- D’Esposito said he is against a national abortion ban and would work to restore the State and Local Tax deduction known as SALT, which was capped at $10,000 as part of a 2017 law signed by then-President Donald Trump.
