BACKGROUND

• Copertino, 67, of Deer Park, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
• Since 2022, Copertino has been a judicial hearing officer at Suffolk County’s Judicial Traffic and Parking Violation Agency.
• Copertino was senior hearing officer for the New York City Transit Adjudication Bureau from 2019 to 2022.
• He was an assistant district attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office from 1999 to 2001, assigned to the Rackets Bureau. From 1990 to 1996, Copertino worked as an assistant district attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office’s Grand Jury Bureau. He then joined the State Attorney General’s Office in the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau.
• Copertino graduated from upstate Elmira College in 1978 and received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1981. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1981. After law school, he joined the Navy and became a judge advocate general for seven years.
