BACKGROUND

  • Murray, 60, of East Patchogue, is running on the Republican Party line in the general election. He is seeking his second term in the State Senate and served in the State Assembly from 2010 to 2012 and from 2015 until 2018.
  • He is a graduate of the former Broadcast Institute of Maryland and said he has worked in radio and television news throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York.
  • Murray has owned D & S Advertising Inc. since 1997.

ISSUES

  • The economy is the top issue for Murray, who said he wants to help both the private and public sector succeed.
  • Murray has called for the repeal of 2020 state criminal justice law reforms, including the elimination of bail for most misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies. He has also introduced Nick’s Law, which would increase the penalties for those who flee fatal hit-and-run crashes.
  • He is also focused on fighting the opioid epidemic and said he is working on a package of bills aimed at addressing the crisis.
