BACKGROUND

  • Flood, 42, of Port Jefferson, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election and is seeking his second term.
  • He served as an assistant Brookhaven Town attorney from 2018 to 2022 and was chief of staff to Assemb. Dean Murray. Flood, who established a private law practice in 2012, was disbarred on Sept. 25. He said he intends to have his law license restored.
  • In 2007, Flood received a bachelor’s degree in social sciences with a specialization in political science from St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue.

ISSUES

  • Flood said that if reelected he would focus on affordability, saying New York has “the highest outmigration in the country. … Other places in the country provide similar opportunities with a lower cost of living.”
  • He said criminal justice reforms backed by Democrats “have been disastrous,” causing some criminal suspects to be released without bail.
  • Flood said he would prioritize state spending, saying he had sponsored a measure that would require every bill to include a fiscal impact assessment.
