BACKGROUND

  • Brown, 56, of Cedarhurst, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He is seeking reelection to a third term. 
  • Brown is deputy mayor of Cedarhurst Village and president of a design/building firm. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Queens College. 
  • He is a fiscal conservative whose work with the village’s Business Improvement District has led to full commercial occupancy. 

ISSUES

  • Brown has rallied against “cashless bail” and raised concerns about the state budget, particularly money allocated for undocumented immigrants. He said the funds would be better spent on supporting Americans who are homeless or veterans.
  • Brown said this year that he helped allocate $60,000 to five libraries in his district and introduced a new mobile library to the Peninsula branch. 
  • He said he has secured $100,000 for the Hewlett Harbor Bridge repairs and another $100,000 for improvements at Long Beach City Hall.
