BACKGROUND

  • Bergstrom, 32, of Floral Park, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He is a deputy county attorney with the Office of the Nassau County Attorney.
  • He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and coaches youth boys basketball.
  • Bergstrom graduated from the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business at Adelphi University and the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.

ISSUES

  • Bergstrom said that if elected he would prioritize fixing the traffic, congestion and parking surrounding UBS Arena, Belmont Park and Belmont Park Retail Village in Elmont.
  • He said he intends to call for cuts to the $239 billion state budget, noting that it contributes to the “staggering” cost of living and inflation, financially burdening district residents.
  • Bergstrom said he supports the amendment of cashless bail legislation because he said it makes those charged with crimes such as sex trafficking eligible for release from custody.
