BACKGROUND

  • Gandolfo, 34, of Sayville, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. 
  • He is seeking reelection to a third term. 
  • Gandolfo earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from SUNY Albany and a master’s degree in public administration from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. 

ISSUES

  • Gandolfo said he wants to continue to push along the Oakdale merge interchange revamp that has been years in the planning. He said he will work to get federal and state funds needed to complete the overhaul.
  • He said he wants to expand on a mental health wellness center project he helped get funded at Bayport-Blue Point High School, and that he would like to work to get centers in additional schools and also help improve access to mental health services for youths.
  • Gandolfo said he would like to get additional state grant funding to help downtowns in the district institute more pedestrian safety measures, noting that it can feel “like you’re taking your life in your hands” when crossing streets in some downtowns.
