BACKGROUND

  • Giglio, 56, of Baiting Hollow, is seeking her third two-year term. She is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
  • She was a Riverhead Town councilwoman from 2010 to 2020.
  • Giglio has owned a construction company since 1997 and is on the executive board of Local 138 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

ISSUES

  • Giglio said restrictions placed on farmers — such as the type of pesticides allowed — and rising costs of employee overtime are making it “harder and harder” for those in the profession.
  • She said clean drinking water is a “big priority” and that she supported the referendum for voters to decide on the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act. If approved, an eighth of a percent increase in sales taxes would fund an expansion of wastewater treatment.
  • In response to New York’s Clean Slate Act, Giglio said she proposes removing unfounded complaints from police officers’ files once an investigation is completed.
