BACKGROUND

  • Mikulin, 36, of Bethpage, is running for reelection on the Republican and Conservative lines. 
  • Before being elected to the Assembly in 2018, he worked several jobs within the Town of Hempstead government, including as a clerical aide to the town board and as a deputy town attorney. 
  • Mikulin graduated from St. John’s University with an undergraduate degree in government and a master’s degree in government. He received his law degree from Touro Law Center.

ISSUES

  • Mikulin said that if reelected he would repeal bail reform enacted in 2019 and give greater discretion to judges to set bail in an effort to reduce crime. 
  • He said he wants to make sure that public schools in his district get enough state funding. 
  • Mikulin said the financially troubled Nassau University Medical Center, as a safety net hospital that can't turn away uninsured patients, needs to have sufficient state funding to stabilize its budget.
