ALBANY — Television star and centerfold model Pamela Anderson has urged Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to put the state’s most dangerous prisoners on a vegan diet.

“Vegan meals would decrease prisoner health-care costs long-term, which would have a significant beneficial impact on New York families, given the increased likelihood of obesity and other chronic diseases contracted while in prison,” the former “Baywatch” and “Playboy” star wrote. The suggestion came from a letter to Cuomo from The Pamela Anderson Foundation for civil and animal rights.

Anderson, the honorary director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said the state could save nearly $2 million a year and improve prisoners’ health by trading meat and dairy for beans, rice, lentils, pasta, vegetables and fruits.

But not even David Hasselhoff could save this idea.

“We greatly respect the work that PETA does,” said Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi, “but there’s probably a better chance of me being in the ‘Baywatch’ reboot.”
