Animals taken from Selden house after tip from rescue group
Several pets were seized from a Selden home Thursday night after the Suffolk County SPCA got a tip from the Rescue Ink animal advocacy group.
Five dogs, a bird, a cat and a hamster were taken from an Awixa Place house, said SPCA chief Roy Gross.
The dogs were kept in cages inside the home and appeared to be thin, Gross said.
"The dogs are being evaluated to determine if charges will be brought," he said.

On Thursday, the SPCA received a tip from Rescue Ink to investigate conditions at the house, Gross said.
After visiting the house Thursday, Gross said the SPCA investigators felt the animals were in "imminent danger" and taken to a veterinarian for evaluation.
Rescue Ink describes itself on its Web site as "a bunch of tattooed, motorcycle-riding tough guys who have joined together to fight animal cruelty." The group has a show on the National Geographic Channel.
