Anna Lopresti, 63, of St. James, dies after being hit by car while crossing road, police say

A woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing a road in St. James on Friday, Suffolk County police said.
Anna Lopresti, 63, of St. James, was walking south across Middle County Road near White Avenue around 6:45 p.m. Friday when she was hit by a 1999 Toyota Camry, according to a Suffolk police news release.
After she was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, Lopresti was pronounced dead, Suffolk police said.
The driver of the Toyota was not harmed, police said, and the vehicle was impounded for a safety evaluation.
Police ask that anyone with information regarding the crash call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
