The Riverhead Police Department has detained a woman who jumped into the sea lion exhibit at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, officials said.

Authorities responded to the aquarium shortly before 2 p.m. at 431 East Main Street, according to Riverhead police.

The woman was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and is not under arrest, authorities said.

"The situation is under police investigation," said Darlene Puntillo, director of marketing and advertising for thr aquarium. "None of our animals were injured or impacted and I am not at liberty to discuss it any further."
