75°Good Morning

Suffolk County police Friday said they've determined the identity of a man who was found stabbed to death Thursday morning in a wooded lot in Brentwood.

Omar DeJesus Perez Sanchez, 24, of Brentwood, was the victim of the slaying, police said. Homicide detectives are investigating.

Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, commander of the homicide squad, said Thursday initial indications were that the victim died Wednesday night.

The 911 call was received at 6:52 a.m., and the caller reported having found a dead body in a wooded lot adjacent to a house on Mayflower Avenue, police said.

Detectives urge anyone with information about the case to call police at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential.
