A woman was killed in a one-car crash on Montauk Highway near Lincoln Drive in Oakdale on Saturday. Credit: Neil Miller

A woman was killed on Saturday after she lost control of her car and it slammed into a tree in Oakdale, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Nyree Walker, 28, of Wyandanch, was declared dead at the scene, the department said in a news release.

Walker was driving a 2016 Honda Civic east on Montauk Highway near Lincoln Drive when the car crashed at about 12:35 p.m., police said

At least 1,162 people in New York were killed in crashes in 2022, the most recent year for which complete statistics are available, according to figures compiled by the Institute for Traffic Safety Management & Research at the University at Albany.
