Suffolk County detectives have charged a 19-year-old Mastic man with the murder of Sarah P. Goode, a 21-year-old single mother found killed and dumped in the woods one month ago in Medford, police said.

Dante Taylor, of 10 Bedford St., was arrested July 10 in Florida by Suffolk homicide detectives and U.S. Marshals on an unrelated arrest warrant for an attempted rape in Suffolk, records show. He was taken to Suffolk County Police Headquarters and charged with second-degree murder.

Taylor is being held at the Sixth Precinct and is expected to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.

Goode, a medical technician from Medford with a 4-year-old daughter, was last seen about 1 a.m. June 7 at a friend's house in Shirley, police said. Her car, a gray 1999 BMW 328i, was found about a mile from her home beside a wooded area in Medford two days later, police said.

A private search party of more than 40 family members and friends found her dead in those woods June 12.

“She didn't deserve to die,” said Kirstin Berkowitz, a friend of Goode’s from Shirley who said she once had a romantic relationship with Taylor.
