A 21-year-old man died Sunday morning after he crashed into another motorcyclist in Riverhead, Town of Riverhead police said.

Riverhead police said Christian Gutierrez, of East Hampton, was riding a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Old Country Road, near a Target store, when he struck a 2006 Yamaha R6, operated by a 54-year-old Southampton man.

Gutierrez suffered numerous injuries and subsequently succumbed to those injuries at the scene, according to authorities.

As of Sunday afternoon, Riverhead police said they did not have any updates on the condition of the Yamaha rider.

The New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit also responded to the scene and were assisting in the ongoing investigation.

No criminality was suspected in the case, but Riverhead police asked that anyone with information contact them at 631-727-4500.

No further details were immediately available.
