Huntington town board removes property restrictions

The Huntington Town Board voted to terminate certain covenants and restrictions affecting a Huntington Station parcel that is part of the hamlet’s proposed revitalization efforts.
In a separate vote, the town board approved the transfer of ownership of the same parcel from the town to Plainview-based Renaissance Downtowns, the master developer for Huntington Station.
The parcel is on the northeast corner of Northridge Street and New York Avenue.
The covenants included requirements that the property is used solely for purposes relating to economic redevelopment, among other things, town officials said. The restrictions only were required when the property was owned by the town’s Economic Development Corp.
Renaissance plans to build a $5.12 million project featuring a three-story structure with commercial uses on the ground level and eight apartments on each of the second and third floors.
The town board voted 5-0 on lifting the covenants and restrictions and on transferring the parcel from the town to Renaissance at the Nov. 10 town board meeting.
