Lake Ronkonkoma Beach closed to swimming
Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in the Town of Islip has been closed to bathing as a result of higher than acceptable levels of blue-green algae, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services said Wednesday.
The beach was closed to bathers earlier in the month for the same reason, and was re-opened Aug. 22, after samples showed the water quality to be acceptable, the health department said.
There's no timetable to reopen the beach.
For more information on affected beaches, call the county's bathing beach hotline at 631-852-5822 or check suffolkcountyny.gov/health.
