Long Island Rail Road service on the Montauk Branch has been restored after a person was struck and killed by a train Friday night.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials reported an unauthorized person was hit on the eastbound tracks around 9 p.m. near West Sayville.

According to the MTA, train service was disrupted for about two hours. The investigation is ongoing but it does not appear to be criminal. No further information was immediately available.
