A Bay Shore man was ejected from his car and died after a collision in North Bay Shore Tuesday, Suffolk County police said.

Isiah Santos Rubio, 20, was driving a 1995 Honda Civic east on Pine Aire Drive when he attempted to pass a 2006 Ford van on the right at the intersection of Peck Avenue at about 10:10 p.m., police said. The Honda struck the curb, then hit the van, leaving the roadway and crashing into a sign and a utility pole, ejecting Rubio from the car, police said. He was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the Honda, as well as the driver and two passengers in the Ford van, suffered minor injuries, police said. They were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment and released.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Major Case Unit detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-852-6553.
