Suffolk County police are investigating the Friday morning shooting of a Farmingdale man.

William Proefriedt, 25, of Cherry St., was shot once in the neck while in the parking lot of Café Royale, 101 Rte. 109, East Farmingdale, at about 12:35 a.m., police said.

Proefriedt was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he was listed in serious but stable condition, according to a news release.

Police on Friday did not provide more details on the shooting but said "detectives are actively investigating" and ask anyone with information to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
