A 60-year-old bicyclist from Coram was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a minivan early Tuesday morning in Rocky Point, Suffolk County police said.

The accident, which occurred at 6:20 a.m., closed southbound Rocky Point Road between Route 25A and Whiskey Road for about three hours, police said. The driver, identified as Phillip Gabriel, 25, of Rocky Point, remained at the scene and was not charged.

Police said the victim, Raymond McCue, was airlifted with "serious" injuries -- but did not provide specifics.

Police said the minivan was impounded for a safety check.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the crash to call Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
