Two more people were arrested Tuesday in connection with an April assault in which a woman was held against her will, then pushed out of a moving car along the Southern State Parkway in North Babylon, State Police said.

Shavonne White, 30, and her husband, Justin Mickens, 32, both of West Babylon, were arraigned on indictment charges Tuesday, along with parolee Antoine Smiley, 38, of Bay Shore, who was arrested on April 30 after being tracked down by state investigators and U.S. marshals.

All three and the victim had left the couple's home together the night of April 27 and were in Smiley's Dodge Avenger when it stopped at a side street near Exit 37, said Senior Investigator Eli Roman of the state police.

On the street, Smiley beat and punched the victim and stole her cellphone, the investigator said.

"She was forced back into the car by Smiley," Roman said.

It was not clear where they were headed that night shortly before 11:30 p.m., he said, but "she probably feared for her life."

Then, at the exit to Belmont Lake State Park, White pushed the victim out of the car, Roman said.

"She came flying out of the car," the investigator said witnesses told police.

Police said they were called when several motorists noticed Smiley attacking the victim on the roadway.

Smiley ran off after noticing motorists had stopped, Roman said, and Mickens drove off with his wife in the car.

The victim had serious injuries and required several days' hospitalization, police said.

Smiley was arraigned Tuesday on at least 28 indictment counts, including several assault charges, second-degree robbery, criminal obstruction of breath, harassment, petty larceny and attempted assault, according to online court records.

Bail was set at $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond, but Smiley, who had been convicted of attempted assault, was placed on a parole hold.

State Police said they arrested White and Mickens at their home at 3 Oswego Rd., West Babylon, Tuesday on indictment charges of first-degree attempted assault and second-degree assault for White and hindering prosecution, a felony, for Mickens because he had remained in the car during the second attack.

White was held on a bail of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, and Mickens held on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail.

Smiley and White were represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases. The name of Mickens' attorney was not immediately available.
