A popular New York City bagel store has opened in the LIRR's newly renovated food court at Penn Station.

H&H Bagels, which offers a variety of bagels and sandwiches, opened its seventh location at the Long Island Rail Road's concourse on 33rd Street at Seventh Avenue last week, a statement from the chain said.

Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays, the store offers a number of breakfast options, including bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches with lox and flavored cream cheeses, and lunchtime selections including specialty sandwiches.

H&H Bagels joins other recently opened Penn Station restaurants such as Rose Pizza, Playa Bowls, Le Café and Dos Toros Taqueria. Restaurants at Penn's LIRR platform had closed as part of a $600 million renovation project to clean up the terminal, including raising the ceilings and widening walkways by pushing businesses back.

It is part of a larger $7 billion overhaul of Penn Station, including a $65 million effort to expand and rebuild the sidewalks outside the station.

The location joins existing H&H Bagels sites on the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Kennedy Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Moynihan Train Hall, along with its most recent opening in Kips Bay last week.

The franchise plans to open a Boca Raton, Florida, store this summer. Tampa, West Palm Beach, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Santa Monica, California, also are slated to open locations this year, the chain's website said.

Founded in 1972 on Broadway at West 80th Street in Manhattan, H&H Bagels has used its original recipe for more than 50 years.
