Five people were injured when a commercial vehicle towing a trailer jackknifed and struck a car on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills Tuesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The collision with the Ford Focus happened around 8:15 a.m. on the eastbound LIE near Exit 51, police said in a statement.

Two people in the Ford, which came to rest on its side, and three in the commercial vehicle were taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
