The Long Island Rail Road is reporting trains on or close to schedule following a morning of delays Monday on the Babylon branch after an unauthorized person was struck on the tracks in Bellmore, railroad officials said.
The incident, which is under investigation by MTA Police and not considered to involve criminality, affected at least 18 peak-period trains.
The incident occurred at 5:39 a.m. and involved the 5:12 a.m. train from Babylon to Penn Station. No passengers aboard the train were injured and officials said customers were accommodated by other trains.
Service was not suspended, though the LIRR said service was limited to just one of the two tracks through the area, causing delays on the branch.
