Portions of eastbound Sunrise Highway will be closed overnight for about one month in West Islip, Brightwaters and Bay Shore for the installation of concrete medians, officials said Thursday.
The New York State Department of Transportation said the closures would begin Monday night and that the eastbound roadway will be closed between Exit 41, at the Robert Moses Causeway, and Exit 43, Fifth Avenue, from about 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. weeknights for about a month.
The closures are subject to weather conditions and will not be in effect on weekends, the state DOT said.
During the closures, vehicles will be required to detour onto the south service road in the area.
