Favorites moments and memories

Home 39 years ago with my newborn daughter, I began watching. My favorite storyline was Tara Martin and Philip Brent secretly marrying in an empty church. I was hooked! I love the past and current story lines. Due to VCR's and DVD's, I've missed few episodes throughout the years.--JoAnne Goldwaser, Massapequa

My favorite "All my Children" moment came on June 11, 2008 after Tad told Kathy he was her Father. The best part of the scene was when Kathy called him daddy, this was so sweet! Laura Reed, Stony Brook

I have watched "All My Children" since it began. Now my children watch it.We all loved Susan Lucci. However, Michael Knight is our favorite actor. We liked his character's name, Tad Martin, and for some reason started using his name in regular conversation. Whether it was a cup of coffee, a soda, or a glass of wine, we would say I'll just have a "Tad Martin, please." -- Sally Campbell, Northport.

Late '80s: I was having tea with a neighbor when I saw my favorite character, Jeremy (Jean LeClerc) enter the scene with a blue and gold macaw on his shoulder. I write for Bird Talk magazine. I quickly called the show and was told that the macaw was LeClerc's own bird. I snagged an interview with him and the parrot! -- Susan Chamberlain, Farmingville

My favorite episode..ALL OF THEM! -- Shelly Volin,Plainview

My favorite moments in my almost 40 years of watching goes back to my beginnings with the show. I had never watched a soap opera before, but while living in my college sorority house and student teaching, that would change! I allowed myself a short break between my classroom teaching and my lesson planning for the next day. It was lunch time at the AEPhi house, and everyone gathered around the TV in the chapter room to watch "All My Children." I was snagged...Phoebe, Mona, Jeff, Tara, Phil and of course...ERICA! I was a convert. Since that semester, for almost four decades, AMC has been a part of my daily life! --Lonnie Parker, Woodmere

With so many fabulous story lines to chose from during All My Children's 40+ year run, there is one that I remember being the most poignant and moving. Tad Martin falls from a bridge during a fight but his body is never recovered. A year or so later, Tad returns to Pine Valley, suffering from amnesia. There were many close encounters with inhabitants of Pine Valley who would have recognized him, but, as things go in soaps, nobody ever saw him. Tad eventually ends up in the hospital where his parents, Joe and Ruth Martin work. Upon their entrance into his room, and after not recognizing anyone else, Tad takes one look at his mother and says...."Mom??". I cried like a baby! -- D. Canning, Smithtown

I have been a fan of "All My Children" since it began and one of my characters has always been Tad. I would have to admit that my all time- favorite moment and in fact in any TV I have ever watched was a fleeting moment of Tad hitchhiking on a road. This was shown weeks (or maybe even months) after Tad had been killed in a fight and then been swept over the falls. It showed me that Tad would return which he did the next year after living in California with amnesia. -- Kathy Coen, Port Jefferson

I watched the first episode when I was home sick from school and have been hooked ever since. My favorite moments include Phil and Tara sharing vows in church in the woods, and Bianca burning down house when she finds out her mother is with her Uncle Jack -- Marlene Dowling, Deer Park

My favorite episode was when Jimmy Buffett made a guest appearance. He was playing pinball at "Foxy's" Bar, and his hit song "Cheeseburger in Paradise" played in the background. My husband always made fun of me watching AMC--until his favorite singer was on the show. Ever since then, we have taped every episode and watched it during dinner. Mealtime will never ever be the same at our house. -- Cathy Bowser, Bay Shore

I have been a fan since 1970. I even named my daughter Erica after Erica Kane. I'm also a very big Michael E Knight fan and my favorite moment was when Tad first met Dixie as Dixie was coming into Myrtle's Dress Shop as Tad was leaving and Tad said to Dixie " Heaven help me, I just forgot every girl I ever met." -- Maryanne Marshall, Malverne

My favorite storyline of all time was when Janet "from another planet" came along and turned her sister Natalie's life upside down! It was classic that it was the same actress just wearing a wig and glasses! -- Tracy Delaney, Bayville

I think my fondest memory is my first. I was with my neighbor and her Mother as we watched together and they explained to me that "Little Charlie" had been kidnapped but that he was really "Little Phillip" and I was hooked form that point. The soap actually helped the two women learn English as well. The most recent scene that brought me to tears was when Jesse and Angie were reunited at the train station after two decades apart. There are few moments in film as beautiful as that one. -- Margaret Donovan, Levittown

My husband and I have been watching since we were in college in 1975. Our favorite episode was the marriage of Greg and Jenny. -- Claudia and Bob Stewart, Merrick

Laura's sad death .. Stuart & Adam...Tad, "The Cad"....& Everything Erika! -- Theresa Carbone, Syosset

I've been a fan since 1978 when I was only 9 years old. I am now 41. One of my favorite moments was back in 1983 when Greg & Jenny finally got together and had a big Valentine's Wedding. My all-time favorite couples of the show have been:1. Greg & Jenny; 2. Cliff & Nina; 3.Tad & Dixie.I have grown up with "All My Children" and I feel like it became a part of my family. All I have to say to the writers and producers of the show is "thanks for the memories." -- Dawn Ferrera, Franklin Square

My favorite part ever is Erica telling off Barbara after they disagree about the name of Erica's perfume line. -- Judith Finkelstein, Woodbury

Yes, I adore Susan Lucci, but my favorite moment was when Jesse Hubbard reunited with Angela Hubbard after his 20-year absence. I will never forget that meeting at the train station. -- Brenda L. Richo, Mineola
