Brookhaven reporter Patrick Whittle was in East Setauket at the scene of the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" site, where the Lutz's family house was demolished Tuesday afternoon.

4:03 p.m.: And that's all from the home today. Thanks for joining us!

2:50 p.m.: Cranes have completely demolished the house. Wanna gawk tomorrow? Shuttles run, starting tomorrow, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Park at 17 Belle Mead, East Setauket.

1:15 p.m.: With action winding down and the dancing done, Whittle is off to file his story.

12:45 p.m.: Demo has started, with hired dancing hard hats celebrating by vibing to the "Extreme Makeover" theme song.

MORE: 'Extreme Makover' will bring down the house

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier from Whittle, who at one point said he was loopy from sun exposure and may have taken matters into his own hands, tearing down the house himself:

Hollywood descended on Ringneck Lane Tuesday morning as “Extreme Makeover” workers began getting ready to demolish the Lutz family home.

The East Setauket neighborhood was filled with construction workers, television crews and the occasional blaring of the theme of the ABC-TV series.

The house is scheduled to come down between noon and 2 p.m., sources have said. The demolition will be done by cranes, not dynamite (Whittle is disappointed).

Neighbor Mina Velji said it was incredibly loud. “Oh my, God, they woke me up," she said.

Despite the noise, many of the Lutzes neighbors have said they are extremely happy for the extreme makeover.
