Payments to the Town of Hempstead for the second half of 2012-13 school taxes must be received or postmarked by May 10.

Taxpayers can use several payment options offered by the Office of Receiver of Taxes including extended hours, satellite offices, the mobile tax office, drive-through payment window and online payments, officials said.

Hours of operation at the main tax office, 200 N. Franklin St. in Hempstead, will be extended from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays this week. The E-Z Pay Drive Thru Payment windows will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the same days; only checks and money orders will be accepted.

Taxpayers are reminded to bring their entire current tax bill with stub intact in order to receive an official receipt at time of payment.

Satellite offices at Rock Hall Museum, 199 Broadway in Lawrence, and Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pkwy. in Hicksville, will be open to receive checks and money orders only for tax payments from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays this week.

Residents can pay via credit card or e-check through the town’s website, toh.li, or by calling Official Payments Corporation at 877-306-6056. A 2.5 percent convenience fee will be incurred for credit card payments and a $2 fee will be charged for e-check transactions.

For more information, call the Office of Receiver of Taxes at 516-538-1500.
