East Hampton is looking for a few good ideas on how to spend more than $100,000 in federal funds that have been set aside for low- and moderate-income housing projects.

The town board has set a public hearing for next month to get the views of residents on how to allocate $104,404 in Community Development Block Grant funds, which can be used for anything from housing rehabilitation and removing physical barriers to the handicapped to making street improvements. As much as 15 percent of the money can be set aside for “public service activities,” including telling town residents how to apply for funds under the program.

The hearing has been set for Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. Residents can also mail in suggestions to the town clerk at 159 Pantigo Road, East Hampton, NY 11937 before the hearing. The envelope should be marked “CDBG public hearing 11/7/2013.”
