The Nassau County Bar Association will hold a free mortgage foreclosure clinic at its Mineola headquarters on June 3.

The NCBA Mortgage Foreclosure and Sandy Recovery Free Legal Consultation Clinic will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at 15th and West streets.

The bar association hopes to assist “families with advice and strategies to keep their homes during one of the worst recessions in modern history, as well as one of the most devastating storms in recent memory,” the bar association said in a statement.

Homeowners who are in foreclosure or concerned about foreclosure will be able to receive free legal guidance and loan modification assistance, as well as bankruptcy information, according to the statement. Help with “FEMA assistance, debt deferral, consumer protection issues, landlord-tenant issues and insurance claims” also will be available, according to the statement.

Spanish-speaking attorneys will be available. Attorneys who know American Sign Language, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Korean, Russian and other languages will be available on request.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling the bar association at 516-747-4070. Attendees are asked to bring mortgage documents, the bar association said.
