Hangin' in the Hamptons: Fun at fundraisers
Fundraiser season is picking up in the Hamptons, but the good news is, tickets come in all price ranges. And for something different: an open mic night.
DO YOUR THING
Have a song, poem or joke to share? The semimonthly People Say NY open mic and art show is set for Saturday at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton (151 Mitchell Lane). Sign-ups start at 7 p.m. for anyone looking to perform. Dune Local will be playing and projects from East Hampton-based artist Andy Piver will be on display. Cover is $10 (954-240-0505, peoplesayny.com).
GARDEN PARTY
Back for a 29th edition, the Hampton Bays Beautification Association is throwing its annual Garden Party fundraiser, and this year it's taking place at Cowfish in Hampton Bays (258 E. Montauk Hwy.) 12:30-4:30 p.m. SAturday. A $45 donation gets guests a four-hour open bar, light buffet, hors d'oeuvres and coffee, plus live music from band Under The Influence (631-728-1672, hbba.net).
FUNDRAISERS AND FUNKY MUSIC
Bravo TV's "Watch What Happens Live" host Andy Cohen serves as the honorary co-chair of the Hetrick-Martin Institute's School's Out cocktail party and benefit, taking place Saturday at a private home in East Hampton (tickets from $350, 212-674-2600, ext 234), while celebrity impresario Russell Simmons is the honored guest of this season's Club Starlight fundraiser for the Steven J. Ross Scholarship Fund at the Ross School tomorrow in East Hampton, which includes a live performance from disco kings KC and the Sunshine Band (tickets from $625, 631-907-5214).
