Hicksville farmers market opens Sunday
The Town of Oyster Bay, with local civic and business groups, is bringing back the weekly Hicksville farmers market beginning Sunday.
The market, which launched last spring, will occupy Kennedy Memorial Park, between Broadway and Jerusalem Avenue, each Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Nov. 20.
Vendors will offer locally grown fruit, vegetables and plants. Meat, fish and dairy will also be available, as will wine, olive oil and other specialty items. The Farmers Market Association, working with the town, Hicksville Chamber of Commerce, Community Council and others, oversees the operation.
The market coincides with other area revitalization efforts, including $3 million in streetscape improvements and a pending senior housing development.
“In returning for a second year at this location,” said Town Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia, “the Hicksville Farmers Market has truly become a location where community revitalization, economic development and a showcase for locally grown farm produce, baked goods and more intersect in the heart of Hicksville.”
